DUBAI CALLIGRAPHY
By Biennale
In my role as Creative Lead, I was responsible for creating a thorough brand identity for the event and designing innovative activation zones to highlight artists' work and engage visitors. Additionally, I provided guidance and direction to a team of designers and sketch artists to ensure the delivery of exceptional work.
This is a multi-site event that includes the build of 6-8 temporary exhibitions and art installations across the duration of one month.
A key objective to the brief is to create cost-saving, sustainable, effective event exhibition solutions that will cohesively contribute to the Dubai Calligraphy Biennale.
This project was created with an exceptionally skilled team at Imagination.

The moodboard showcases how contemporary calligraphy, colors, fonts, design elements and patterns can be integrated to create a modern and attractive outcome. It reflects a mix of bright and muted colors to create a balance between vibrancy and sophistication.
Brand Identity Concept
The concept includes the use of Arabic calligraphy to create letterforms for the Latin word “Aleph” while also incorporating Arabic typography into the design.
Color Palette
Venues will be color coded with a main color for each. Nevertheless 2 or 3 colors can be used for each venue keeping in mind their main color will be dominant.
Graphic Element
A graphic element is created from the range of selected venues, by using the calligraphy feather. This graphic can be used as a pattern, digital map, website and other print.
Biennale Venue Map locations
The calligraphy feather is used as a symbol of connecting the venues together on the map
Combining all elements to craft a pattern design that establishes a distinctive brand signature.
Hands are a crucial factor in calligraphy as they are the primary tool used by calligraphers to create beautiful and intricate lettering. The type of tool used, such as a spray, brush, pencil or pad, will require different hand movements and techniques to achieve the desired effect. Additionally, the position and pressure of the hand can also affect the quality and consistency of the calligraphy strokes.
Therefore the iconography style and concept is based on hand positions and movements.
